An engraving of the Medicine Buddha adorns the bottom of the singing bowl.
About hammered singing bowls: Whipped or hammered singing bowls are made entirely by hand. Every single singing bowl was carefully hammered by hand, which requires several work steps.
For the production, the various compositions of raw materials (copper, tin, zinc, iron, lead, gold and silver) are first melted in the furnace, depending on the manufacturing requirements of bronze singing bowls or seven-metal singing bowls etc. The hot, molten metal is made from taken from the oven and poured into cups or cube shapes of various sizes and weights. Then the metal molds are rolled out into round metal sheets of the required size and thickness. The leaves are then hammered or beaten by hand according to precise measurement specifications and categorized according to weight and size. For the hammering process, 4 to 5 metal sheets are stacked on top of each other and then heated to the point of glowing heat. The red-hot metal sheets are hammered by a group of handicraft experts until the heat stays in the metal. This is followed by further heating and hammering to shape the singing bowl. The heating and beating of the stacked metal sheets is continued until the desired shape and size is created from the metal sheet. (This is the reason for the fluctuations in the size of the hand-hammered singing bowls). Only when the metal sheet glows red can it be hammered, it cools down, it loses its softness and flexibility, becomes harder and cracks or breaks when it is worked on. After completing the desired shape, the individual manufacturing process begins. During this process, each bowl is brought into the same shape and size, which in turn requires heating to the point of glowing heat.
After the shape and size are completed, the subtleties of the shape are touched up.
Finally, the individual singing bowls are engraved and the surface is smoothed from the inside and outside.
