The Dorje represents the method of compassion and embodies the masculine principle. The bell represents the wisdom of the void, "how things really are" and is considered a feminine principle. Dorje and Bell are intended to remind us of the practice of great compassion while taking into account the correct view of the emptiness of things. These ritual objects have long been part of traditional prayer and puja, not only in Tibetan Buddhism but also in Hinduism. In India they are used and even in Bali the dorje and bell are used in their symbolic meaning.
