Tibetan prayer flags
Wonderfully colorful, they flutter playfully in the wind all over Nepal on roofs, temples, bridges or holy springs.
Yet they have a deep meaning for the people who live there. They should always remind of the divine. The mantras and images on the flags are supposed to bring protection and blessings to the entire universe and all life. Problems or sufferings are passed on to the wind for transformation by hanging a prayer flag so that life can flow again. The colorful flags symbolize the five elements. Over time, prayer flags dissolve due to the effects of sun, wind and rain. This is also desired because in this way the blessing can reach the five elements.
