Padmasambhava ("Lotus-born"), also known in Tibet as the Second Buddha under the name Guru Rinpoche ("Cospicable Master"), was a tantric master who was born from the 8th to the 9th century. He first introduced Buddhism in Tibet in the 19th century, his teachings are passed on today, among other things, in the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism.
Presentation:
Padmasambhava sits on lotus, sun and lunar disk. His facial expression shows great strength and concentration. He wears a hat and three different robes as a sign of the perfection of all paths. In his right hand he holds a Vajra, his left rests in his lap and holds a skull in which a long-life vase stands. In his arm rests a Kathvanga (trioth stick).
