A gomthak (Wylie: bsgom thag) is a Tibetan-style meditation belt that offers essential support for the spine and back, making it easier to maintain a comfortable sitting position for extended periods. The belt helps relax the hips by supporting the knees and promotes correct spine alignment and stability, which reduces physical stress during meditation. Traditionally used to stabilise posture and support healthy energy flow, a Gomthak helps deepen the meditation experience. This type of belt is especially helpful for those unaccustomed to sitting on the floor or on a cushion, but also for experienced practitioners during longer meditation sessions.
While it is a single piece of cloth, it can be sewn to a custom length if needed.
Material: 50% wool, 30% cotton, 20% polyester. Hand wash with cold water.
