The historical Buddha.
Siddhartha Gautama (* 563 BC in Lumbini; † 483 BC) was its original name. Later known as Buddha Sakyamuni. His first teaching speech was on the "Four Noble Truths" and thus became the founder of Buddhism.
PRESENTATION:
Buddha Sakyamuni sits on lotus, sun and lunar disk. These symbolize the three main aspects of the path. Renissation, wisdom and compassion. He sits in the Vajra posture (crossed legs) as a sign of the strength of his unwavering concentration. His right hand shows the gesture of touching the earth, as a sign of his victory against Mara with which he calls the earth as a witness. The left hand rests in the meditation gestre and holds a begging bowl. His body is of radiant, golden fareb and has the characteristics of a Nirmanakaya. He wears the traditional monk's robe.
