His Holiness the 33rd Abbot of Menri tasked Geshe Sonam to translate with Dan Brown several key Bon Dzogchen texts. The translated texts included The Six Lamps, and Twenty-one Nails, respectively written and transmitted by Tapihritsa, from the Zhang-Zhang Oral Dzogchen Transmission and Bru Galway Yungdrung’s Pith Instruction for A-Tri Dzogchen.
In addition to these three foundational texts, His Holiness the 33rd Abbot of Menri requested that Geshe Sonam and Dan Brown translate three different collections of the 20th century Dzogchen Master Shardza Rinpoche’s commentary on Dzogchen. The most concise of Shardza Rinpoche’s commentaries translated is the Heart Drops of Kuntuzangpo. In increasing detail this was followed by the Kusum Rangshar (Self Arising Threefold Embodiment of Enlightenment), which expounds on the A-Tri meditation manual and describes in detail additional advanced yogic practices, and, then the most extensive of the three Dzogchen commentaries, The Precious Treasury of the Expanse and Liveliness of Awaken Awareness.
